WORKSHOPS ON WRITING TECHNIQUES

In the early 1990's, Renato Modernell began coordinating small groups for literary creation in his own house, and later coordinated larger groups organized by the Cultural Department of the State of São Paulo. More extensive than just simple writing classes, these workshops are authentic laboratories of texts. They include stimulation exercises, sharing of experiences and analysis of the material which has been produced. The coordinator also suggests approaches to authors and offers ideas in order to give support to personal reflections and develop awareness of the act of writing.

Modernell works with a large public which includes writers, journalists, students and professionals from many areas. Mid 1999, he adapted his method for Internet users who live in different cities and countries. The only pre requisites are a computer and some free time during the week. The great advantages are comfort and flexibility. The pupil stays home, receives personal orientation by e-mail or telephone and can adjust the tasks to his routine.
